Meditation & Mindful Inquiry.

A decade of daily contemplative practice is the container that makes my breathwork safe and deep. On its own, it's also a complete path — training the attention that shapes everything you experience, and giving you somewhere steady to bring insight and healing into whatever's alive in your life right now. Sustained practice can open further still, into real insight, realization, and an equanimity that holds it all more lightly.

Sessions can include personalized meditation instruction addressing what your mind needs most, practices to build genuine positive resources, inquiry to help free you from limiting beliefs and release old patterns held in the body-mind, and — for those called to it — exploration into the depths of nondual understanding. It's the same path back to peace, ease, and release that runs through everything I offer.

The power of attention

How you pay attention shapes what you experience.

Everything we experience, we experience through the filter of attention. You can be in the most idyllic setting and still be caught in a spiral about work. You can be injured or short on money and still feel the love still connecting you to the people around you. Every moment, attention is focused on something — and how it's aimed either creates more suffering or begins to free you from it.

Meditation trains this most essential of human faculties with grace and skill. It's been the cornerstone of my own healing for over a decade, and in coaching, I help you build the same capacity — not as an abstract discipline, but as something you can actually feel change your days.

Open to Spaciousness

Let what's stuck begin to move, and rest in what's left.

Most people believe meditation means forcing distressing thoughts to stop — and that can work temporarily, but it takes constant effort and doesn't touch the root. I find it far more effective to locate the somatic charge underneath the racing mind, meet it with self-compassionate presence, and let what's stuck begin to move. Once that underlying charge releases, so does the limiting belief or story it was holding in place — opening you to a healthier way of seeing and experiencing the world.

Alongside meditation, private coaching draws on mindful, self-compassionate inquiry — particularly Tara Brach's RAIN and Gabor Maté's Compassionate Inquiry — to help you meet whatever's actually alive in your life right now.

And within a meditation session itself, you're not limited to sitting still — if something wants to move, I can guide you into breath and movement to help release it right there. Meditation coaching pairs naturally with private breathwork sessions too — meditation trains the attention and safety that make deeper breathwork possible, while a full 75-minute private session gives sustained release far more room to unfold than a 45-minute meditation session can. Read more about how the two work together on my approach.

Where practice can lead

A spaciousness that holds it all.

With enough time on the cushion, meditation can open into something deeper — insight, realization, equanimity, a spaciousness that holds whatever we experience, lightly. Limiting beliefs, emotional landmines, muscular tension, even our very sense of being a separate, vulnerable self, can all begin to dissolve into something wider: the singular flow of the whole universe, moving through us rather than apart from us.

This isn't something we manufacture — it's already here, just below the surface of everyday awareness. Learning to access it is one of the deepest gifts of a sustained practice, and it changes how you meet everything else: with far greater peace, ease, richness, and flow.

"
This was the most intense spiritual experience of my life. I felt a connection to everything — the sky, the waves, the earth, the moon, the sun. And then I realized it's not connection; it's just One. It's no contradiction to have boundaries of myself, my body, my mind — as an essence, it's One. I can really bring this into my life. It didn't dissolve. I can embody it much more.
Richard, on touching oneness through practice
